ABOUT US
They Need Us National Youth Network is more than a mentorship program it is a national movement focused on prevention, accountability, and transformation.
We believe prevention is more powerful than punishment. Many young people simply lack access to credible mentors who understand their environment and challenges. TNU-NYN bridges that gap by connecting youth with leaders who have lived experience and a commitment to real change.
Our Core Values
Everything we do is guided by foundational principles that shape our mentorship model, leadership structure, and national impact. These values are not slogans they are standards we live by.
Consistency
Real transformation requires steady presence. We believe mentorship is not a one-time conversation it is an ongoing commitment. Consistency builds trust, stability, and emotional safety for youth who may not have experienced dependable support before.
Our leaders and mentors show up regularly, follow through on commitments, and remain engaged beyond moments of crisis. Through structure and repetition, we help young people build habits that lead to long-term success.
Consistency turns guidance into growth.
Integrity
Integrity is the foundation of trust. We operate with honesty, transparency, and moral responsibility in every interaction. Our mentors lead by example, modeling accountability in their words, actions, and commitments.
We teach young people that character matters even when no one is watching. By demonstrating consistency between what we say and what we do, we build credibility that youth can believe in and rely on.
Integrity ensures that our movement is built on truth, not image.
Respect
We honor the lived experiences of every young person we serve. Respect means listening without judgment, understanding their reality, and recognizing their potential beyond their circumstances.
At the same time, respect also means holding youth accountable in a constructive and supportive way. We challenge behavior without attacking identity. We correct with purpose, not criticism.
Respect creates an environment where growth is possible.
Discipline
Discipline creates structure, and structure creates opportunity. We emphasize personal responsibility, emotional regulation, goal setting, and self-control as essential life skills.
Young people are taught that discipline is not punishment it is preparation. It is the ability to make wise decisions even when faced with pressure or adversity. Through mentorship and leadership challenges, we guide youth toward habits that strengthen character and resilience.
Discipline transforms potential into achievement.
